The Politics Project and Purpose Union are joining forces to run a training programme to support Further Education Colleges to set up "auto-enrolment" and integrate voter registration into the student enrolment processes.
About auto-enrolment
Auto-enrolment in a process that is used to support students to register to vote as part of their enrolment processes. Once integrated, this process can be used year-on-year, streamlining your voter registration activities and lessening the need for voter registration drives.
About the programme
The course will include guidance and tailored support on the process of auto-enrolment, including on developing data sharing agreements and integrating the processes into your college.
The programme will include three training sessions to allow a cohort of further education colleges to set up auto-enrolment in time for next year's summer enrolment processes.
- An introduction to auto-enrolment - 12th or 13th November 2024 (this session is being delivered twice)
- Troubleshooting your data sharing agreement - 14th January 2025
- Implementing auto-enrolment in your college - 12th February 2025
In addition to this training, we will also be able to support you to reach out to your Electoral Registration Officers and provide templates and guidance to set up the process.
Requirements
Before signing up to this programme, please ensure you have the following:
- You are reasonably confident you will be able to complete the auto-enrolment process.
- You have the permission and buy-in from both your Principle/CEO and your Data Protection Officer to implement this process.
- You are able to attend one of the “introduction to auto-enrolment” sessions and ideally the other two training sessions.
