mySociety

Established in 2003, mySociety is a not for profit group pioneering the use of online technologies to empower citizens and support greater civic participation. Our mission is to help people be active citizens — because secure and fair democracies need engaged and informed citizens. Our digital services, research and data increase transparency and help citizens understand and engage in democratic processes.  

We work across four interlinked practice areas: Community, Democracy, Transparency and Climate — each underpinned by research, sector building and appropriate commercial work. We operate both inside and outside of government; improving access and responsiveness while holding power to account. As well as running our established services such as FixMyStreet.com, TheyWorkForYou.com and WhatDoTheyKnow.com, we support the work of local organisations who reuse our open source code, running services used by more than 11 million people every year in over 40 countries worldwide.
