Education Scotland is now accepting applications for the second cohort of the Additional Support Needs (ASN) Teachers' Programme, a free national professional learning programme open to aspiring and current ASN teachers. Co-designed with teachers from the pilot cohort, the programme is grounded in real classroom practice and supports participants in building knowledge of inclusion, legislation, ASN planning and practical classroom strategies, with the aim of driving meaningful improvement for children and young people. The term ASN Teacher encompasses a range of job titles across mainstream and specialist settings, including Support for Learning Teacher, Additional Support for Learning Teacher and Visiting Support Teacher. Running from August 2026 to August 2027, the programme combines monthly online sessions with two in-person learning days. The closing date for expressions of interest is midnight on Sunday 31st May 2026.
