Social action in the wider world

This scheme of work supports learners to develop the knowledge, skills, and awareness needed to be active and responsible citizens. By the end of the scheme of work, learners should have a greater understanding of how they can make a positive difference in their school, local community, and wider world, as well as the rights and responsibilities that come with being an active citizen.
In completing the scheme of work, learners will explore social action, global citizenship, the Sustainable Development Goals, and what it means to be a positive member of a school community. They will consider how their actions can influence others and contribute to positive change, taking part in discussions, activities, and practical planning.
The scheme of work was designed by Young Citizens for learners in Key Stage 2 and is intended to be delivered as a programme of flexible, connected lessons. Teachers are encouraged to pick and choose from the materials available to design the series of sessions that best suits their group.
