Welcome to your vote week 2027

Welcome to Your Vote Week 2027 is a free UK-wide programme for schools, youth groups and local authority election teams, supporting young people to explore democracy and prepare for future democratic participation. Through a flexible range of curriculum-linked resources, the programme helps learners develop the knowledge, skills and confidence to understand elections, voting and the ways they can influence decisions in their communities. The programme is designed to be delivered during Welcome to Your Vote Week, but many of the resources can also be used throughout the year to support ongoing democracy education.

The programme aims to help young people understand how democracy works in the UK and why participating in elections matters. Through classroom learning, assemblies and interactive activities, learners explore key democratic concepts, develop confidence discussing political issues respectfully, and consider the different ways they can make their voices heard. The programme supports educators to deliver high-quality democracy education while encouraging informed, active participation.

Participants can choose from assemblies, lesson plans and supporting campaign resources to build a programme that suits their setting. Assemblies are designed to be delivered in approximately one hour, while schools and organisations wishing to deliver the full voter registration campaign should allow around six hours across Welcome to Your Vote Week. This estimate assumes delivery of the complete campaign in one language and includes the available assemblies, lessons and supporting activities. Individual resources can also be delivered independently, allowing educators to tailor the programme to the time available and the needs of their learners.

Welcome to Your Vote Week is developed by the Electoral Commission and is free to access for schools, youth groups and local authority election teams across the UK.
