School council
What’s included
This scheme of work introduces learners to the idea of a school council and prepares them to take part in a school council election. It aims to help learners understand how school councils give young people a voice in decisions that affect them, and to build the skills and confidence needed to stand for election themselves.
The scheme of work consists of an assembly, which introduces the concept and purpose of a school council, and a set of worksheets which support learners in preparing their own election candidacy.
The scheme of work was created by Votes for Scholes and teachers may wish to deliver this scheme of work alongside the others in their programme, which cover different aspects of politics and elections in the UK.
