2026 Senedd Election – How to Vote
This scheme of work from the Electoral Commission helps young people understand how to register and vote at the 2026 Senedd election, and why it’s important.
The Electoral Commission has worked in collaboration with the Children’s Commissioner for Wales and the Senedd Commission to create new resources to help young people learn about how to vote, so they feel confident to participate in the 2026 Senedd election.

How to Vote (English)
A 1 hour session plan that explores:
- Why voting is important
- What the Senedd election is and what they are voting for
- How to register and cast your vote at a Senedd election
This is the English language version.
The lesson can be taught individually or as the third one of three, preceded by the Children's Rights and the Senedd Election lesson and The Senedd - Your Voice, Your Vote lesson, depending on the time available and which topics are most suitable for your learners.
