My Vote My Voice is on a mission to encourage people with learning disabilities and autistic people to vote. We’re a campaign developed by United Response, Dimensions, and Mencap working closely together with people with lived experience of autism, learning disabilities, physical disabilities and mental health needs. As of January 2025 we are a coalition of over 200 organisations across the United Kingdom with a potential reach of 200,000 people who draw on support services.
Together we’re campaigning to:
- Remove voting barriers and make voting more accessible;
- Raise awareness about people with learning disabilities and autistic people’s right to vote; and
- Advocate for better policies that make sure everyone has an equal opportunity to participate in our democracy.
2025 Objectives:
By the end of April 2025, we are aiming to:
- Recruit 50 additional local partners – focusing on areas with upcoming elections, as much as possible.
- Reach 2000 additional voter registrations of autistic adults and adults with learning disabilities.
- Amplify the reach of our newly co-created easy-to-read resources – these newly developed resources focus on the role of local government and how to get involved in the democracy in your local community.
Ways you and your organisation can get involved:
This spring we are going to need all the support you are able to give. You and your organisation can:
- Help grow our coalition by signing our charter or helping us recruit more organisations to join our campaign – a toolkit and onboarding pack would be provided.
- Host an accessible voter registration event. – A small budget and toolkit would be provided.
- Amplify our easy-to-read resources using the links below (please use the links as shown below so we are able to measure our collective impact):
By working together, we can make sure that everyone that wants to vote can do so! If you or your organisation would like to join this campaign or if you have any questions, please get in touch with Patti, Engagement and Project Coordinator at info@myvotemyvoice.org.uk
