School council: Secondary assembly

This lesson introduces secondary-aged learners to the idea of a school council and supports them in preparing for a school council election. Learners will take part in an assembly explaining the council's purpose and structure, then complete worksheets to develop their own election pitch, considering the issues they care about and how to communicate them to voters.

The assembly can be delivered as a standalone session or be delivered as part of a series along with the rest of the VotesForSchools assemblies.
