Can we trust what we see? Deepfakes and democracy

This standalone lesson covers AI deepfakes and their impact on democracy. Learners will explore what deepfakes are, examine real and AI-generated images, videos, and text, and learn to spot the clues that separate them. Through an Artefact Detective activity and whole-class discussion, learners will consider how deepfakes spread misinformation. A reflection activity will help them see why this matters for trust in what they see and their role in a democratic society.
