The Politics Project is excited to invite you to our Exploring Elections training session designed to support educators in empowering young people to engage with democracy. Whether elections are happening this year, next year, or beyond, it’s never too early to prepare the next generation to participate in shaping their future.

Why this matters:
Youth turnout and registration rates are declining, and this issue becomes even more critical as it looks like Votes at 16 will come into fruition before the next general election. We are on the front line of ensuring young people are informed, registered, and ready to vote. While politicians have responsibility in encouraging participation, we as educators also have a vital part to play.

Key focus areas:

  • Understanding the importance of youth engagement in democracy.
  • Practical strategies to support young people in registering to vote.
  • Guidance on navigating non-partisanship in the classroom
  • Resources and tools to make democracy accessible and relevant to young people.

Why now?
It’s never a bad time to register someone to vote. By equipping young people with the knowledge and confidence to engage in the democratic process, we can help reverse the trend of declining youth participation and ensure their voices are heard.

This training is funded by the Electoral Commission and all information and resources provided will be non-partisan.
