What is a vote? (Primary Ages 5-7 | English)

In this lesson created by the team at Young Citizens, pupils learn what it means to vote by looking at examples in the lives of a range of fictitious characters. Pupils consider why and how votes are held and think about how people might feel if their choice does not win. The lesson concludes with an opportunity for pupils to vote in a real-life school situation.

By the end of the lesson pupils will be able to:
➯ Explain what a vote is
➯ Identify when a vote might be needed
➯ Explain how to organise a vote
➯ Take part in a vote
