Students begin by recapping what they have already learnt about general elections in an odd one out picture quiz. They explore what happens on general election day through the story of Zainab, an 18-year-old voting for the first time. Based on what they learn, they consider whether the general election system in the UK is free and fair. They then go on to find out more about different ways of voting, including online voting, and discuss the possibility of introducing online voting in the UK. Finally, in preparation for the announcement of the general election, students prepare an election timeline for display in the classroom.
